چکیده
Campylobacter upsaliensis is a rare human pathogen recovered so far only from stools or blood from patients with enterocolitis or bacteremia. We report the isolation of C. upsaliensis from a breast abscess.

Abortion associated with Campylobacter upsaliensis.
Campylobacter upsaliensis was isolated from the blood and fetoplacental material of an 18-week-pregnant woman who had contact with a household cat. We believe this is the first report of abortion associated with C. upsaliensis infection.
متن کاملCampylobacter upsaliensis: Another pathogen for consideration in the United States.
While evaluating quinolone resistance in a sample of Campylobacter isolates recovered from patients with campylobacteriosis in Los Angeles County, California, in 1998, we discovered that the second most frequently isolated species was Campylobacter upsaliensis (6 [4%] of 155 isolates). The ability of laboratories to recover this species may be dependent on the culture conditions and the media u...
متن کاملPrevalence and Biotypes of Campylobacter Species Isolated from Sheep in Sokoto State, Nigeria
Rectal swabs (feacal) samples were collected from 518 sheep across Sokoto state and processed for Campylobacter organisms. Of a total of 518 samples, 93(18.0%) yielded Campylobacter organisms. The Campylobacter species isolated in this study were Campylobacter jejuni, Campylobacter coli, Campylobacter lari and Campylobacter upsaliensis. The most frequently isolated Campylobacter species was C. ...
متن کاملGenomic heterogeneity and O-antigenic diversity of Campylobacter upsaliensis and Campylobacter helveticus strains isolated from dogs and cats in Germany.
A serotyping scheme based on heat-stable surface antigens was established for 101 Campylobacter upsaliensis and 10 Campylobacter helveticus strains isolated from 261 dogs and 46 cats of different ages originating from two geographically distinct regions in Germany. The prevalence of C. upsaliensis varied between 27.8% in juvenile dogs (<12 months of age) and 55.4% in adult dogs (P < 0.05). Of t...
متن کاملOral Campylobacter species involved in extraoral abscess: a report of three cases.
Oral Campylobacter species are rarely reported to cause extraoral infections. Here we present three cases of extraoral abscess caused by an oral Campylobacter sp. and a Streptococcus sp. The Campylobacter species were all isolated anaerobically and identified by sequencing analysis of the 16S rRNA gene. The cases included a breast abscess caused by Campylobacter rectus and a non-group A beta-he...
